The sixth edition of Baborówko Foal Auction 2026 is now behind us. The hybrid foal auction brought the first day of Baborówko Jumping Show to a close. A total of 13 foals were sold, achieving a record average price in the history of the auction of nearly €13,100 (PLN 56,000) and total sales of €170,000 (nearly PLN 737,000).
One, two, three TOP sellers
This time, during the bidding held simultaneously live and online via equibid.pl, there was not one, not two, but as many as three top-priced foals, each sold for €18,000.
The first to reach this price was the eye-catching pinto Eyehunter HKV Z (Eyecatcher Ter Linden Z - Chacco-Fly), bred by Marta Janowska. He was followed by Ervalnut AMK KNT (Ermitage Kalone - Royal Touch van het Schaeck), bred by Arkadiusz & Wojciech Kasperski, and Éclair Cuivré Z (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof - Dieu Merci van T&L), bred by Nina Wandel.
The first of these foals will remain in Poland, while the second and third will travel to a sport stable in Denmark, purchased by returning clients of the Baborówko auction.
A total of 13 out of 16 foals offered were sold, representing a sales rate of 81%. Eleven of them achieved a price of €10,000 or more. Three foals will leave Poland. In addition to catalogue numbers seven and thirteen, catalogue number one – the colt Best Lover SQ – will also go abroad, having caught the eye of Greek rider Angelos Touloupis.
“I am delighted that the strong interest in the Baborówko Foal Auction 2026 collection translated into satisfying sales for the breeders and a new record in the history of the auction. It is extremely encouraging to see riders from all over Europe looking for their future stars right here in Baborówko. I would like to thank all our clients and breeders who, for the sixth time, have placed their trust in us,” said Henryk Jan Święcicki, Director of Baborówko Foal Auction 2026.
Not only foals
A new feature of this year’s auction was the sale of a frozen embryo, offered by Angelos Touloupis, a rider well known to the Polish audience.
The embryo is by Emerald van ’t Ruytershof out of Coco Chanell 15 by Cellestial. Touloupis is currently competing at this year’s Baborówko Jumping Show with one of the mare’s sons, Coco’s Crack Balou. On Saturday, the pair finished fourth in the young horse class.
The embryo was purchased by a Polish investor for €6,000.
An international audience
Foal auctions provide an excellent opportunity to promote Polish breeding to an international audience – something frequently emphasised by breeders presenting their foals in Baborówko.
“For the second time, I had the pleasure of presenting one of my foals in Baborówko, and once again I was able to see just how professionally the event is organised. From the application process through to auction day and the media coverage, everything is delivered to a very high standard. What I would highlight above all, however, is the quality of the foals presented. They are truly carefully selected little ‘gems’. It is a great honour to be part of such a group. This time, a foal bred by me found a new home in Denmark, which makes me very happy. There is also something exciting in the making at our breeding farm – something I am personally looking forward to very much… I do not want to reveal too much just yet, but I have a feeling the right moment for another entry will come,” says Nina Wandel, breeder of Éclair Cuivré Z.
Charity auction for the third time
For the third consecutive year, the bidding in Baborówko was opened by LOT 0.
This time, funds for charity were raised by Melon KNT, donated to the auction by his breeders, the Kasperski family. The heart-warming foal was sold for €7,000, with the proceeds supporting little Basia Mucha, who has been struggling with numerous health problems since birth.
Basia can also be supported HERE.
See you in 2027
Baborówko Foal Auction will return in 2027. Before the next edition takes place, however, the Baborówko team, together with MTP, will organise the sixth edition of CAVALIADA Horse Auction at the end of 2026.
The selection process will begin very soon.
